How to plan 7 days in Machu Picchu & The Sacred Valley, Peru

  • Head straight from Cusco's airport down into Urubamba or Ollantaytambo to sleep at lower altitude on night one.
  • Base yourself in Ollantaytambo if you want to walk right onto your morning train to Aguas Calientes without a 4:00 AM shuttle transfer.
  • Buy your Machu Picchu citadel entry circuit first, then back-time your train departure and Consettur bus connection around that fixed hour.
  • Do not attempt Pisac ruins, Maras, Moray, and Ollantaytambo in a single daylight sprint; split them into an upper valley day and a lower valley day to avoid ruin exhaustion.
