A 10-day trip to Taipei

Taipei is night markets and dumplings under a skyline of mountains — friendly, cheap, and one of Asia's great food cities.

Taipei is compact, safe, and built around night markets — eat your way through Shilin and Raohe after dark. The MRT is excellent; use it and explore the mountains behind the city.

Best time to go

Late October through December for pleasant temperatures, clear skies, and minimal rainfall.

What your 10-day plan includes

  • A day-by-day itinerary with neighborhoods clustered so you spend less time in transit.
  • Real budget awareness — a target, an estimate, and a status you can dial up or down.
  • Recommendations shaped by your pace, food priorities, group, and must-dos.
  • Swap anything, improve any day, refine in any direction without starting over.

How to plan 10 days in Taipei

  • Base yourself within a 5-minute walk of a Blue (Bannan) or Red (Tamsui-Xinyi) MRT line station to cut your cross-town travel times in half.
  • Don't try to cram Jiufen and Yangmingshan National Park into the same calendar day; they sit in opposite directions and will strand you in transit.
  • Hit Din Tai Fung's original Xinyi or Taipei 101 branch right at opening (11:00 AM) to pull a QR code wait time, then browse nearby shops rather than waiting in peak lunch lines.
  • Schedule your Elephant Mountain hike for 4:30 PM to catch both the sunset over the Taipei 101 basin and the neon lighting up across the city.
  • Pair Beitou's sulfuric hot spring bathhouses with a sunset stroll through Tamsui's Old Street, since both sit sequentially on the northern stretch of the Red MRT line.
