How to plan 7 days in Guadalajara

  • Base yourself in Colonia Americana for walking access to third-wave coffee, cocktail bars, and indie restaurants, rather than staying in Centro Histórico which empties out after dark.
  • Do not cram Tequila into a half-day; the valley sits 1.5 to 2 hours northwest, so dedicate a full day and book an early morning regional transport or tour so you are back before metropolitan evening rush hour.
  • Schedule your Centro Histórico morning around Hospicio Cabañas and the Cathedral, then take SITEUR Line 3 straight to Tlaquepaque for a late birria lunch at El Parián.
  • If you want to catch professional Mexican wrestling (Lucha Libre), plan your trip to be in town on a Tuesday night at Arena Coliseo.
