Spain
A 10-day trip to Costa Brava
Granite coves, Dalí’s haunts, and pine-fringed coastal trails.
Stretching from Blanes just north of Barcelona up to the French border at Portbou, the Costa Brava trades high-rise mass tourism for granite cliffs, turquoise calas, and fortified medieval towns. Defined by the Baix Empordà and Alt Empordà regions, it is best experienced by threading between whitewashed coastal villages like Cadaqués and Calella de Palafrugell and the stone farmhouses and rice paddies inland.

How to plan 10 days in Costa Brava
- Anchor in Begur or Calella de Palafrugell if you want central access to the best coves and inland stone villages.
- Do not attempt Cadaqués and the Figueres Dalí Theatre-Museum on the same afternoon; the narrow, winding GI-614 pass consumes travel time and demands patience.
- Dedicate one dedicated day to inland Baix Empordà: combine a morning in Pals or Peratallada with an afternoon rice tasting in Pals.
- If traveling in July or August, reach beach cove parking lots (such as Cala s'Alguer or Sa Tuna) before 9:00 AM to secure a spot.
- Pair a Costa Brava itinerary with 2 nights in Girona to access world-class dining, railway transit, and preserved Jewish Quarter architecture.
