A 4-day trip to Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is cliffs and lemons over the sea — Positano, Ravello, and a road that's the whole experience.

The Amalfi Coast is Italy's most romantic stretch — vertical villages of pastel houses tumbling down cliffs to the Tyrrhenian Sea, linked by a single winding road.

The towns are small and stacked: Positano for the postcard, Amalfi for the history, Ravello for the views, and the road between them is the experience itself. Add Capri by boat for the full set.

It's crowded and expensive in summer, and the roads jam. Stay in one town as a base, use ferries and buses, and go in May or September for the views without the traffic.

What your 4-day plan includes

  • A day-by-day itinerary with neighborhoods clustered so you spend less time in transit.
  • Real budget awareness — a target, an estimate, and a status you can dial up or down.
  • Recommendations shaped by your pace, food priorities, group, and must-dos.
  • Swap anything, improve any day, refine in any direction without starting over.

How to plan 4 days in Amalfi Coast

  • Stay in one town as a base and ferry/bus between the others — don't drive in summer.
  • Book the Blue Grotto (Capri) and ferries ahead in peak.
  • Do the Path of the Gods (Sentiero degli Dei) hike for the coast from above.
  • Go in May or September — same views, half the crowds and traffic.
  • Lemons are the local obsession — try the pasta al limone and the limoncello.
