A 3-day trip to Santorini
Santorini is a volcano's rim over the sea — white villages, blue domes, and the sunset everyone comes for.
Santorini is the postcard of Greece — whitewashed villages clinging to the rim of a flooded volcanic caldera, with the Aegean below.
The sunset in Oia is the famous one, but the island is more than that: black-sand beaches, wineries, and clifftop walks between Fira and Oia. Stay in the caldera-side towns if you can afford it; the views are the whole point.
It's crowded and expensive in peak summer; shoulder season (May, September–October) is the sweet spot. Book a caldera-view room once — it's worth it.

How to plan 3 days in Santorini
- Book a caldera-view room in Oia or Imerovigli once — it's the whole point.
- Walk the caldera rim from Fira to Oia (about 10km) in the morning before the heat.
- Get off the rim: visit Pyrgos, the beaches, and a winery for assyrtiko wine.
- Arrive early for the Oia sunset — it's the most crowded moment on the island.
- Go in May or September — same views, half the crowds.
