  • Do not try to combine Fremantle and Rottnest Island on the same day; Rottnest requires a dedicated 6-to-8-hour trip, and Fremantle's markets and heritage prison deserve their own relaxed morning and afternoon.
  • Book the earliest morning ferry to Rottnest Island from B-Shed in Fremantle so you beat the mainland day-tripper rush to the best snorkel bays like The Basin and Salmon Bay.
