A 5-day trip to Park City, Utah
World-class alpine terrain meets historic mining charm just 40 minutes from a major airport hub.
Park City delivers an unusually seamless mountain trip: you land at Salt Lake City International Airport and can be clicking into ski bindings or sitting on a historic Main Street saloon patio 45 minutes later. A 19th-century silver boomtown transformed into host of the 2002 Winter Olympics and the Sundance Film Festival, it pairs vast terrain across Deer Valley and Park City Mountain with an authentic, preserved downtown. With completely fare-free public transit connecting town and lifts, it is one of the rare Western ski destinations where avoiding a car rental actually improves your trip.

Best time to go
Late January through February for peak powder skiing, or mid-July through August for alpine trails and outdoor concerts.
What your 5-day plan includes
- A day-by-day itinerary with neighborhoods clustered so you spend less time in transit.
- Real budget awareness — a target, an estimate, and a status you can dial up or down.
- Recommendations shaped by your pace, food priorities, group, and must-dos.
- Swap anything, improve any day, refine in any direction without starting over.
How to plan 5 days in Park City, Utah
- Stay in Old Town if you prioritize walking to dinner and bars over ski-in/ski-out hotel conveniences.
- Book Deer Valley lift tickets weeks in advance; unlike most Epic or multi-pass mountains, Deer Valley caps daily ticket volume and frequently sells out entirely during holiday windows.
- Don't try to ski Park City Mountain's Town Lift side and Canyons Village in one rushed morning; traversing the Quicksilver Gondola takes considerable transit time, so dedicate separate days to each side.
- Pair an afternoon of bobsledding at the Utah Olympic Park with a stop at Kimball Junction's Swaner Preserve rather than hauling back down to Main Street.
- Check the Sundance Film Festival calendar before planning a late-January ski getaway; unless you are holding screening passes, town crowds and lodging spikes will work against you.
