A 7-day trip to Fethiye, Turkey

Lycian cliff tombs, forested bays, and the gateway to blue cruises.

Set along a sheltered natural harbor beneath pine-clad Taurus foothills, Fethiye is a functional Turkish market town that doubles as the logistical launchpad of the Turquoise Coast. Unlike purpose-built resort enclaves, Fethiye maintains an authentic commercial pulse alongside its marina, rock-carved Lycian heritage, and direct access to Ölüdeniz and the Lycian Way.

How to plan 7 days in Fethiye, Turkey

  • Base in downtown Fethiye near the marina if you want authentic working-town evening dining, or base in Faralya if your focus is Lycian Way hiking and cliffside retreats.
  • Pair Fethiye with Kaş by driving the stunning D400 coastal highway, stopping at Kaputaş Beach and Patara along the route.
  • Don't try to cram Saklıkent Gorge, Tlos, and the 12 Islands boat cruise into the same day; water cruises take a full 7-hour block and gorge wading demands fresh legs.
  • Book the Babadağ Teleferik (cable car) or tandem paragliding flight 1–2 hours before golden hour for optimal lighting over the Blue Lagoon.
  • Hike the marked 2-hour forest segment of the Lycian Way from Kayaköy down to Ölüdeniz rather than taking the road bus for dramatic coastal views.
