A 7-day trip to Eilat
Red Sea coral reefs meet jagged desert canyons at Israel's southern frontier
Set where the Negev Desert collides with the Gulf of Aqaba, Eilat is Israel's premier winter-sun haven and marine gateway. Ringed by rust-colored granite peaks, the city trades historic urban complexity for marine sanctuaries, accessible shore diving, tax-free retail, and easy cross-border proximity to Jordan and Egypt.
Trip length
7 days
Best time to go
November through March for sunny 22°C–26°C beach days and comfortable desert hiking.
What your 7-day plan includes
- A day-by-day itinerary with neighborhoods clustered so you spend less time in transit.
- Real budget awareness — a target, an estimate, and a status you can dial up or down.
- Recommendations shaped by your pace, food priorities, group, and must-dos.
- Swap anything, improve any day, refine in any direction without starting over.
How to plan 7 days in Eilat
- Stay in Coral Beach (South Coast) if reef diving is your priority; stay on North Beach if you want walkable dining and evening strolls.
- Do not try to do the Red Canyon and Timna Park in the afternoon during shoulder or summer months; finish desert hikes before 11:00 AM to avoid extreme heat.
- Pair your trip with an overnight cross-border excursion to Petra and Wadi Rum via the Yitzhak Rabin / Wadi Araba border crossing.
- Reserve Timna Park entry tickets and bicycle rentals in advance if visiting during national holiday weeks.
- Skip the North Beach hotel water-sports zone if you want coral; the actual fringing marine reserves are strictly south of the naval port.
