How to plan 7 days in Dinaric Alps (Una National Park)

  • Base yourself in Bihać if you value evening dining and variety; pick Kulen Vakuf or Ripač if you want to walk straight from your bedroom onto a river dock.
  • Do Štrbački Buk at 08:30 to avoid both tour bus arrivals and the blinding midday backlighting on the main viewing platform.
  • Pair Una with a driving route between Zagreb and the Dalmatian Coast (Zadar or Split), utilizing the less congested border crossings.
  • Don't try to cram Štrbački Buk, Martin Brod, and Ostrožac Castle into a single afternoon; split the park into a southern cascade day and a northern fortress/rafting day.
  • Book whitewater rafting at least two weeks ahead for July and August weekends, especially if you want the high-adrenaline Štrbački Buk to Lohovo descent.
